OverView:​

Youdle is a grocery platform that simplifies shopping while building a connected community. It enables users to create lists, discover products, and share recommendations. To enhance engagement, Youdle is launching a Community Page, similar to a Facebook Group, where users can discuss groceries, share recipes, and review products. The user-friendly design ensures seamless navigation, easy onboarding, and interactive features like badges and personalized profiles. This case study explores how users engage with the onboarding process, community features, and content, providing insights to improve usability and interaction within the Youdle ecosystem.

Team and Role:

Our three-member team collaborated on different aspects of the project. As the primary point of communication with the client, I managed meetings, requirement gathering, and alignment between business goals and user needs. My role included wireframing, prototyping, and competitive analysis, benchmarking platforms like Amazon, Costco, and Trader Joe’s.

Through five rounds of usability testing, we identified gaps in the community onboarding flow, leading me to redesign six key screens. The new, client-approved iteration improved usability and engagement, ensuring a seamless transition into the Youdle community.

Grocery shoppers face significant challenges in tracking stock availability, finding real-time deals, and staying informed about price fluctuations, often relying on scattered sources such as store apps, advertisements, and in-person visits. There is no centralized community platform where users can efficiently share insights, discover promotions, and interact with fellow shoppers. Additionally, while many shoppers are motivated by savings, community engagement, and recognition, existing solutions lack interactive features like real-time updates, gamification, and personalized notifications that encourage participation and streamline the shopping experience.

Solution Statement:

Youdle will expand its platform to include a community-first, real-time grocery shopping hub where users can share tips, track stock availability, discover deals, and engage with fellow shoppers in a collaborative way. By incorporating local community updates, instant notifications, and gamification elements (badges, rewards, and recognition), Youdle will enhance engagement, improve shopping efficiency, and create a fun, savings-driven experience. With a mobile-first design and crowdsourced insights, users will have easy access to up-to-date promotions, product availability, and price comparisons—helping them make informed decisions before heading to the store.
